Hello from all at French Riding Holidays. As the new season begins we would just like to let you know whats new
French Riding Holidays is constantly evolving and for those guests that return time and time again we like to give them something new and different to try. So in February we introduced Pelangi to harness ( photo below). She took to it like a duck to water (or should we say a horse to cart!) On only the second outing she happily ventured along to Tartabelle. We are aiming to introduce some of the others to harness during the year and hope to offer some guests the chance to try their hand at driving.
Last year we offered Western Style riding to our guests for the first time. Some of our American guests requested western saddles and we found many other guests wanted to have a go too. Oracle, Nelson, Kajoline and Epice were the horses we used for this style of riding and they too were very comfortable with the different style saddles.
2010 is going to be the year that we build our own cross country course in the valley. One of our good friends was a professional course builder in a previous life and we are very excited by the course plans he has drawn up. We are lucky to have such expertise at hand. We had a super time at New Year with a great bunch of guests. Once again we enjoyed a murder mystery evening but after copious amounts of champagne, by the time the murderer was unveiled who cared! The mounted team treasure hunt on New Years Day (thank you Sara for the route and fantastic clues) was again a popular and fun ride. It Is hard to believe but our first born foal Tiffany is now 3 years old and this will be the year that she commences light work. She is a great favourite of Louises and as mentioned in our previous newsletter Louise has already sat on her back with a saddle. Those of you who enjoyed riding Kym last season will be very pleased to hear that he is returning to us again for 2010. We have two interesting new editions to the herd, Indiana, a beautiful skewbald with a lovely nature, and Cirrus, a Portuguese dappled grey with real presence and a very showy action.
For our younger guests we are having a pretty little pony on loan for the season called Red. She is the deepest chestnut we have ever seen, hence the name. She has a gentle personality and is very popular with visiting children. David has bought himself a quad bike and is looking for excuses to bring picnics to previously inaccessible sites, which means we can now enjoy more adventure rides with cold beer breaks. Enjoying the Snow this Winter.
